Product enquiry

The GKTECH FR-S/BRZ bolt on angle kit is a simple, lightweight, yet super effective bolt on steering kit.

It is a bolt on kit, meaning it can be fitted and removed with no modifications. A completely reversible install.

With 30% faster steering these are suitable for both the dedicated drift cars whilst working equally as well for a grip/street car looking to speed your steering up.

If you own one of these vehicles, you would know the OEM steering angle on the FR-S/BRZ sucks! We measured them to having less than 40 degrees lead wheel and even less trailing. This kit will allow you to get around 60 degrees of lock lead wheel and with adjustable ackerman you can acheive near parallel front steering.

More information on this can be seen in the FAQ below.

- 30% faster steering
- Adjustable ackerman
- Circa 60 degrees of steering lock

FAQs

Will this fit the aluminum knuckle?
No, this is designed to suit the steel knuckle only.

Does installing this kit require a wheel alignment?
Yes, it alters both toe so a wheel alignment will be required after installation.

Will this fit my car?
We can only confirm fitment for the vehicles listed above under "vehicle compatibility". If your car is not listed there, then we don't know if it will fit.

Is there anything else needed for installation?
There is nothing else that is critical to the installation but offset rack spacers are a good idea to help with steering bind. They can be seen/purchased here: https://us.gktech.com/fr-s-86-brz-high-tensile-offset-steering-rack-extenders11

What size wheel spec should I use for best clearance?
Any size wheel would work, but optimally for the GT86 chassis you want as much inside clearance as possible so that you can clear the frame rails etc on lock.

When testing we used a 18x9 +12 wheel for most of our bolt on angle kit testing to get the most amount of lock.

Can I install this myself? If so how long will installation take?
Yes, provided you have general mechanical knowledge as they are relitively straightforward. Installation time should be around 30 minutes. However, being a suspension component we recommend only a trained professional to install this product

Are there any special tools required?
No, a spanner set will do the job which we do sell separately here - open ended wrenches

Do you have replacement dust boots?
Yes, they can be seen here - PCY HEIM REPLACEMENT DUST BOOT

FRS Angle Kit

It’s honestly really nice quality and it’s an easy install. The video helps a bunch however with the construction of the angle kit I had to trim way more off the knuckle then in the video. With stock inner tie rods it’s hard to get minimum thread engagement and it’s tricky to correct your alignment, however it’s possible. I have aftermarket wheels and ran into the V3 outer tie rod making contact with the inner lip of the wheel. A little bit more camber helped correct this, but ultimately will need a spacer. On the Zn6 platform, while turning it starts to trigger the traction control but if you hold traction or even just put the car in sport it should counter the car reducing your peddle response. All these issues Iv had to learn by tinkering myself. I’d say it’s still a very easy install for beginners wanting some more angle.

Awesome steering lock improvement!!

Can’t recommend this lock kit enough!! Only thing I recommend is extended rack ends (which I’ve ordered) as on my application the thread engagement on the factory rack ends is questionable (2014 BRZ). But awesome product & very easy install. Highly recommend for any GT86/BRZ owner!!!

Great kit

Love this kit so much already. Make sure you order extended inner tie rods to get the right amount of thread engagement!

Yeah goes good

Ordered a ticket to wetpan 4 days before the event and ordered the GT86 bolt on angle kit with 1-3 day shipping, got there fast as and got it in. Not quite as "bolt on" as expected, you gotta grind down the knuckle (sorry neighbours at 9pm) and would really love to see them mention that it throws off stabiliy control and that the stock tie rod inners barely reach and don't quite make the minimum thread engagement even with the Ackerman adjusted to the inner settings however it survived 4 brutal hours of wetpan and went hard as lock to lock, steering felt so easy it was like cheating and I ordered some extended inner tie rods for safety so for a weekend drift nugget it's a good product. Info page could use a little extra detail though.
