FAQs

What is the advantage of replacing the HICAS steering rack?
Removing the HICAS steering rack gives you more predictability of the rear of your vehicle. A must if you plan on drifting your car or taking it to the track.

What does HICAS actually do?
The HICAS system is meant to help with handling however given that the technology is 20 or so years old, it's certainly not great and is hated by most. Chances are if you have felt HICAS work while driving with a bit of excitement, you want to remove it ASAP!

How do I know if my car has HICAS or not?
HICAS equipped cars have a power steering reservoir level sensor built into the cap and two wires and a float inside the reservoir. If you lift off the power steering cap with those wires the HICAS light will turn on when you start the car. Looking under the rear of the car you will also find hydraulic hoses and another steering rack device hooked to the differential and the rear suspension to steer the rear wheels. When the key is turned on and motor not started the warning lights come on (HICAS) light shows up then too.

Will this HICAS lock bar fit my car?
We can only guarantee fitment for the vehicles listed above under "Vehicle Compatibility". If your car is not listed there then we don't know if it will fit your car. Please don't ask us as we do not know the answer.

Will my HICAS light stay on if I install this HICAS lock bar?
Yes, the HICAS light on your dash will stay on if the ECU thinks that it’s not working correctly. This can easily be resolved by removing the bulb for the HICAS warning light behind the dash.

Is there anything else that I need to install this HICAS lock bar?
Yes, unlike a regular HICAS lock out bar this unit is designed to be used in conjunction with regular toe arms. Regular toe arms need to be purchased and also you'll need to replace the bushes on the knuckle side (we sell both).

Well made

Well made, like everything else on offer. Improves the handling significantly. A little confusion can occur if purchasing the rear toe arms separately to the kit... Anyway, read carefully when ordering.

HICAS Delete Bar and S13 240sx/R32 Skyline toe arms 100% FIT PERFECTLY on a 1995 JDM Nissan Skyli...

I wanted to eliminate the HICAS system on my 1995 JDM Nissan Skyline R33 GT-R Series 1. I reached out to the sales team at gktech and sent them pictures of the rear subframe. John the General Manager looked at the photos and felt confident that the HICAS Delete Bar and the S13 240sx/R32 Skyline toe arms would work. I made the purchase and the parts came in the mail right away. I just got done installing them tonight and I can confirm 100% that these parts will bolt right up to the R33 GT-R with no issues. I am very happy with my purchase and I plan on purchasing more products in the future.

My Fault, but still annoyed

Purchased the HICAS lockout bar to install into stock toe arms. Accidentally purchased this one instead of the direct replacement without the toe arm mounts. Didn't realise until I went to chuck it in almost a year later. Don't do this mistake people if you're not upgrading your toe arms.

Hi Ameen, providing the item is brand new (and current model) you're welcome to return it to swap it over. Reach out to the guys in sales to discuss

My fault but still slightly annoyed

I got this to install on my R33 but didn’t read the description properly (F). Mostly writing this to stop anyone else making my mistake. I brought r33 Hardrace rear toe arms to complement the hicas delete but they DO NOT fit due to this needing R32 toe arms to work. I have since got r32 toe arms and it fits well

Hi Jesse, please note that we have not done this for no reason. We have done this specifically so that a 40mm width arm can be used rather than the S14/S15 50mm arm can be used which would sit the clevis too far offset from the bar itself.
